Big changes are ahead for CDL and CLP holders starting June 23, 2025. The FMCSA is rolling out National Registry II (NRII), and if you're not prepared, you could be at risk for certification issues—or even a license downgrade.

Here’s a Quick Preview of What’s Changing:

  • No more paper medical cards in most states

  • Exam results will be transmitted electronically from your medical examiner to your state

  • Carriers can no longer rely on paper certificates—they must verify through your CDLIS MVR

  • Drivers with mismatched information could fall through the cracks

If this sounds confusing... it is. Washington Department of Licensing has already implemented NRII. Know what your responsibilities are as a driver or motor carrier, now’s the time to get clarity.

What You Don’t Know Could Sideline You

One mistake, like a typo in your name or license number, can keep your medical certification from reaching the state. That means your CDL could be downgraded without warning. Sound like something you want to deal with mid-route or during a DOT inspection?
